School Board President and Beverly High Alumna,
Nooshin Meshkaty, has officially announced that she is running
for re-election to the Beverly Hills Board of Education. Meshkaty states: “I
am grateful for the public’s trust and look forward to continuing the important
work of ensuring that our district remain fiscally sound and our children
receive a world class, top-rated education”.
Nooshin has served this community
for over 18 years. She has been PTA President, Beverly Hills City
Commissioner/Chair, City Technology advisory Committee, BHEF member, Team
Beverly Hills Member and Board of Education Member/President.
I am proud of my record of accomplishments over the last four years. We have
successfully managed our former Measure K bond program with improved, modernized
facilities throughout the district, including two beautiful state-of-the-art
buildings that were completed on time and under budget. Academic rigor,
curricular offerings and instructional quality have been significantly enhanced
and my leadership has helped to bring our schools the largest increase in our
Joint Powers Agreement with the City in history. Our teachers have received
substantial raises and we enjoy the most supportive relationship with the City
of Beverly Hills in recent memory.
Former School Board President Myra Lurie,
who serves as one of Meshkaty’s Honorary Campaign Chairs, along with her husband
David Goldman, states, “As Jet
Propulsion Laboratory / NASA’s Senior Information Technology Network Manager,
Nooshin understands business, finance, accountability, security, and information
technology. She is a passionate advocate for children, an experienced
professional and a dynamic leader who we can count on.”
Nooshin was instrumental in the
passage of last November’s $334 Million Measure E School Bond and spearheaded
the school’s partnership with the City of Beverly Hills to share technology
services and implement district wide CCTV Security Camera technology.
Additionally, she initiated the District’s Digital Classroom, co-founded the
Pre-School Blue Ribbon Committee, championed curriculum reform at Beverly Hills
High School to ensure that all students graduate with the University of
California admission requirements, instituted strong accountability measures to
guarantee fiscal solvency.
Former Mayor and current City Council Member Barry
Brucker comments, “Our City/School relationship would not be so
stellar had it not been for the tenacious advocacy for our School District from
Nooshin Meshkaty. Sue and I are proud to be two of her Campaign Chairs for she
possesses strong leadership, is fiercely independent, 100% committed to every
child in the District and is an advocate for fiscal accountability and
responsibility.”
Community activist and Planning Commission Vice
Chair Lili Bosse concurs. “Jon and I are thrilled to also Chair
Nooshin’s campaign for re-election. We have never known a more ethical, hard
working, child advocate than Nooshin. She conducts herself professionally and
with integrity and deserves to be re-elected.”
First elected in 2005, Meshkaty
has been involved in virtually every aspect of Beverly Hills schools.
Campaign Managers Annette and Marc Saleh
comment, “Everywhere we go, we see Nooshin rolling up her sleeves working on
behalf of our children, staff and community. It is her experience, leadership
skills, business acumen, commitment to accountability and compassion for
children that make it so easy to put our own child’s educational success in her
hands”.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of community support for my re-election
from parents, grandparents, teachers, students and community leaders,”
states Meshkaty. “Although the
campaign has officially begun, as your School Board President, my first priority
is to continue leading this district through the daunting challenges that face
public education today including balancing our budget, retaining highly
qualified teachers, managing the Measure E bond programs and curriculum
improvement.”
Inviting the community to offer their input and join her campaign,
Meshkaty adds, “I believe that
my proven leadership, professional skills and experience uniquely qualify me as
a member of the Board of Education. That said, I continue to learn so much every
day from the comments and suggestions of our very intelligent and involved
community. Please join the conversation and contact me at any time with your
thoughts.” |
